Erick Casselman was born in Orillia, Ontario and moved to Snow Lake,
Manitoba at the age of four. He moved to Winnipeg to attend the
University of Manitoba and soon began a computer consulting business for
seniors. In 1997 Erick moved to Riverview and ran a business renovating
homes in the neighborhood. He took great pride in his work and in his
community. At that time, the iconic Park Theatre was sitting vacant on
Osborne Street. He was intrigued by the potential of the space and in
2005 took on the task of renovating the theatre to provide a valuable
service to his community-the provision of a leading edge venue for the
Arts. He spent 8 months renovating the theatre, converting it from an
old archaic space to a modern, warm, inviting and heavily used public
space for neighbors, friends, and the wider Winnipeg community.
Erick feels that the new Park Theatre provides a valuable venue for
community engagement, interaction and offers ongoing support to the
local arts scene. He set up an annual sponsored scholarship with
Churchill High School and continues to build community connections while
at the same time offering Winnipeg a premiere cultural venue that
enhances and enlivens the surrounding areas. |
